About 20 Gaters will meet at The Way Station for another sorting party. We went a few months back to put the donated items on the shelves so that those receiving help can find them in an orderly setting. The Way Station gets plenty of donations, but few volunteers to help organize. So, we will be helping out in this way. We’ll also have a clean-up crew to help them get ready for their Thanksgiving dinner next month. Painting, scrubbing and carpet cleaning are on the docket. It’s just our way of helping the good people at the Way Station to help those in need in our community in the Name of Jesus Christ. This is what community involvement is all about. This is what being a follower of Jesus is all about.
Thought you might like to see a few pictures from the Columbiana Street Fair parade that The Gate participated in on Thursday. Kim Wetzl had some great help decorating the float along our “American Idle” theme. Daryl’s brother, Todd, drove his truck and allowed us to use a huge trailer for the float. Pam Tabak set the whole thing up and provided 500 visors with The Gate Logo and web site on them. They went very, very quickly.
Everybody is thirsty for God. Most don’t even know it. The great news is that the spiritual water Jesus offers is both completely satisfying and absolutely free (John 4:13-14). On Friday evening May 29th a bunch of us Gaters will be at a couple of intersections in Columbiana giving out Pepsi to people in their cars who are stopped at a red light. Under the tab will be a card that simply reads: “Thirsty?”. Our web address will be at the bottom in case they’d like any more info. But, like Jesus’ offer of complete satisfaction in life, the pop we give out will be absolutely free. In fact, you can’t buy it from us.
Jeff and Jennifer Kudler are friends of our from The Gate. Jeff owns a company called Majestic located near Columbiana, OH, and they sometimes invite friends over to test drive equipment that is either new or newly renovated. What a blast! I thought you might like to see some pictures:
